Litigation Support

INTERA provides the legal community with access to an integrated team of consultants and expert witnesses in the geosciences, focused on geology, hydrogeology, and contaminant fate and transport. We offer specialized expertise in the areas of soil and groundwater investigations, including non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) contaminants such as chlorinated solvents and hydrocarbons, and vadose zone and groundwater modeling. Our personnel combine technical knowledge and expertise with strong communication and presentation skills to assist in developing effective cases for a variety of environmental litigation issues. INTERA's staff consists of senior scientists and engineers with exceptional technical ability in one or more scientific or engineering disciplines.
Our legal support personnel recognize that effective litigation support encompasses more than technical expertise. Successful support requires experts that can educate the legal team, contribute to developing effective trial strategies, and present the facts concisely and believably. Our experts help lawyers develop a strong working knowledge of complex scientific, technical, and regulatory issues. We quickly review and assimilate large quantities of data and information, identify gaps in the information with regard to legal strategy, and develop approaches to fill those gaps. We help structure and organize technical conclusions so that they appropriately support the legal approach and can be clearly understood.
Our litigation support services include:
- expert witness reports and testimony
- data animation and visualization
- determination of contaminant sources and timing of releases
- mediation and cost allocation
- research of regional geology and hydrogeology for resource evaluations
- evaluation of water resources damages claims
